On Site Delegate Information

Please find information below that might be of assistance when planning your journey to, and attendance at, the New Zealand Anaesthesia ASM 2018 in Auckland.

General Information

Venue and Dates: The meeting takes place at the Cordis Hotel, Sydmonds Street Auckland: Cordis Hotel  – the dates of the meeting are Thursday 8 November to Saturday 10 November 2018.

On Site Registration: The registration desk will be located inside the Pre-Function Area of the Great Ballroom on the ground floor. It will be open from 1400 until 1700 on Wednesday 7 November and again from 0700 on Thursday 8 November. 

Please ensure you check-in at the registration desk to collect your name badge and registration material. Admission to the exhibition and scientific sessions is by name badge only.

Combined NZ Anaesthesia ASM/ NZATS Annual Conference Powhiri: Please note, the Powhiri for the meeting will start at 0820 on Thursday 8 November. Please ensure you allow time to collect your name badge and registration material before the Powhiri begins.

Moving Towards a Paperless Meeting: The main communication and information tool will be a Meeting App. For your convenience, however, an electronic copy of the Scientific Programme has been sent to all attendees, which can be printed if you choose (a printed mini-programme will also be provided with your registration material). As no satchel is provided, you are encouraged to bring your own bag or satchel to use at the meeting.

Health & Safety: The Conference Managers, in conjunction with the Organising Committee and the Cordis Hotel, are committed to providing and maintaining a safe and healthy meeting environment for all attendees. Relevant Health & Safety information regarding First Aid and emergency/evacuation procedures will be available at the registration desk, on the meeting noticeboard and provided during the opening sessions each day. If you have any health and safety concerns during the meeting, please inform the registration desk staff, a member of the Organising Committee or a staff member at the Cordis Hotel.

Industry Partners: We would like to acknowledge and thank our industry partners, who play a pivotal role in making this meeting successful. Please ensure you show your support by visiting all of the exhibition stands, and participating in the Books for Kidz competition (via the meeting app) to win a $750 Prezzy Card voucher.

Dress Code: The dress code for all scientific sessions, and the Welcome Function, is smart casual. If you are attending the ASM Dinner, the dress code is cocktail style.

Parking, Public Transport and Bike Storage: Valet parking is available at the Cordis Hotel for NZD$45.00 per car, per night (standard-sized vehicles only). Please click on the following link to view the public Wilson carparks near the hotel:  Cordis Hotel Local Carparking

As there is limited bike storage at the Cordis Hotel, you may choose to use Auckland’s public transport system. The Link bus services are the easiest way to get around the city – just look for the red, green, blue or yellow buses (depending on your location). Informal Walk/ Run: Join our Executive and Convenor Dr Craig Birch for an informal walk and/or run around the Auckland Domain – anyone interested should meeting in the Cordis Hotel Lobby at 6.30am, Friday 9 November. There is no charge to take part – everyone is invited!

Attendance Certificates: Attendance certificates will be emailed following the meeting.


Meeting App

The NZ Anaesthesia ASM for 2018 will employ a Meeting App, which will include the meeting programme, abstracts, speaker biographies, an attendee list, sponsor and exhibitor listings, regular alerts to keep you updated during the course of the meeting, a live Q and A function and a Books for Kidz competition.

Log-In to the Meeting App

Some functions of the app are only available for users who are logged-in (such as viewing and messaging your fellow attendees, posting questions during sessions, and updating your profile photo). If several icons within the app appear greyed out/lighter in colour, then you need to log-in to access the content of those icons. Once you have logged-in for the first time, you will not need to re-enter your email address and app pin.

Your personalized log-in details have been emailed to you – if you have not received this information, please contact the Conference Managers.

Personal Information

When you log-in to the app for the first time, a pop-up box will appear asking whether you would like to opt-in or opt-out of the Attendee List within the app. If you decide to opt-in to share your details, your basic profile will appear in the attendee list (name, organisation, position and country), but your personal contact details, such as your phone number and email address, will not be shared. Please note, you can update your visibility preferences at any time by clicking on the My Details icon.

The Meeting App also includes a Contact Exchange function. If you would like to exchange contact details with another attendee, you can click on the Contact Exchange icon within the app, and scan each other’s QR code – contact details which will be shared include your email, address and phone number.

Complimentary On Site Wi-Fi

Complimentary Wi-Fi has been arranged for all meeting attendees. To access the Wi-Fi on site:

  • Select the network Cordis in your wireless settings.
  • When a pop-up box appears enter nzasm18 in the Access Code box.


Finally, please note that all sessions are ‘open’ for Tweeting and Facebooking by default. However, speakers can explicitly request that certain talks, slides, or findings – particularly where content is confidential or sensitive – be left out of the social media conversation, and some sessions may be completely closed. The session chairs will provide clear instructions at the beginning of each talk to highlight any such requests. Please respect the wishes of your peers and colleagues in this regard. Please also keep your social media conversations collaborative and respectful.
