Tourism award success for popular Hamilton attraction
Success is blooming at Hamilton Gardens, one of the city’s premier tourist attractions and a must-visit for guests attending this year’s Aotearoa NZ Anaesthesia ASM
Hamilton Gardens has retained its prestigious Qualmark Gold Sustainable Tourism Award, first received in 2011. It’s another honour for the popular attraction, made up of 18 enclosed gardens inspired by locations and cultures from around the world, and ranked in the top 1 per cent of attractions globally on Tripadvisor.
Organisations are awarded bronze, silver or gold accreditation when evaluated against Qualmark’s Sustainable Tourism Business Criteria, the first in New Zealand to gain recognition by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council. The criteria cover five key areas: Health and safety, business systems, environment, people, and community and culture.
Just a 10-minute drive from the Claudelands Events Centre, venue for the Aotearoa NZ Anaesthesia ASM, Hamilton Gardens features 45 hectares of parklands and themed gardens, including Ancient Egyptian, Te Parapara, Tudor, Italian Renaissance and Surrealist designs.
There’s even a shop, a café and a playground for the kids, making Hamilton Gardens the perfect family outing. Be sure to add a gardens visit to your itinerary or bring the family along for a weekend in Kirikiriroa Hamiton after the Aotearoa NZ Anaesthesia ASM wraps up.
